History
Szent István University's rich history dates back to the 18th century. With such a long history and legacy of excellence, Szent István University stands as a central pillar of higher education in Hungary and throughout the region.
Education
The University provides education, as well as pursuing research work in the fields of engineering – especially for the automotive industry -, IT, architecture pedagogy, economics, international relations, law and administration, social work, medicine and health, musical arts, agriculture and teacher training.

The university offers unique training and research in the region, which serves primarily the engineering focused production activities, building on the North-Transdanubian economy and its social and institutional environment. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 10.
My IR journey at SZE Győr has been enriching and dynamic, blending global theory with practical skills and TDK work on power imbalances. I loved the international classroom vibe, Public International Law courses covering UN structures and treaties and mobility programs like Pannónia Scholarship to Le Mans for cultural immersion and French practice. What I liked most is the proactive community and scholarships (Stipendium Hungaricum) fueled my TDK research, awards like WARESA Europe and internship pursuits - perfect for my UN volunteer dreams. My areas for improvement is more hands-on diplomacy simulations and streamlined course enrollment (less email bureaucracy) would boost it; currently, it's solid but could add direct policy fieldwork. Overall Summary: Thrilling 10/10 experience: a launchpad for IR ambitions with global peers, ripe for internships by June 2026.
Peaceful Environment
It's a small, but nice, tidy university. (I write about the campus of Mosonmagyaróvár) Everyone can get the personal attention they need as the student number is not high here. If you don't like loud noises and the city environment but like green environment, trees, this is your place.
Academic Life
I like, because the guiding academic staff from top to the bottom is working on real life applications of the field and also have wide information on theoreticals. Also qualified labs and good campus.

Housing services
Right on the banks of the River Danube there is one of the buildings with its 3 wings and 1158 places of living accommodation. There are 3 beds, desks, a bookshelf, cable and Internet access in every room. Every two rooms have a bathroom with shower and a wash-basin, and there are restrooms at the end of the hallways. Every student has his/her own entry card. Your guests have to leave the building by 9 p.m.
Library services
The library as the university's educaton and research support background institution completely fulfills its job with its modern equipments. Education and research need the most scientific backround in the university.
Campus life
Our student dormitory is the main scene of social life. Friendships and study groups evolve here during the years at the university. In the two buildings of our dormitories there are 1620 places available. 40% of this is offered to the freshmen. Admission is valid for a year and it is possible to live with people majoring in the same subject as you – possibly your classmates.
Sports facilities
All students of the university have the right to enrol in the University Sports Club. You justneed a valid student card and to pay the registration fee of 3,000 HUF/year and you will have access to all the sport halls as well as enjoying all then following sports and sport facilities of the University free of charge: gym, swimming, aerobic, dancing, athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, handball, rowing, tennis, badminton, combat sport and ping-pong.
Student clubs
The local student organizations and the nearness to the university give you the opportunity to take an active role in vibrant social life.
