The university was founded in 1967. The university is the youngest university in the state of Baden-Württemberg, which boasts several old, renowned universities in Heidelberg (1386), Freiburg (1457) and Tübingen (1477). The idea was to create a university with a new approach in both research and teaching.
The University of Ulm (German: Universität Ulm) is a public university in the city of Ulm, in the South German state of Baden-Württemberg. The university focuses on natural sciences, medicine and the engineering sciences, mathematics/ economics and computer science. With over 7,000 students, it is one of the smaller universities in Germany.An important concept since the foundation of the university has always been to promote interdisciplinarity.

The City of Ulm is a friendly and safe place in the South of Germany. It is situated on the Danube River, in between the city Stuttgart and the Bavarian hot spot Munich. 170,000 people live in the city area of Ulm and Neu-Ulm. The region is well-known for its economic strengths and high standard of living. Ulm and the region offer many events among them various traditional customs like “Nabada” – a water festival during the summer time – but also museums, galleries, bars and shopping facilities. Workspaces are provided in all publicly accessible areas at both library locations. You can choose to study either in the open reading room area or in the stack aisles, and a limited number of personal study carrels are provided for quite study. In addition to these conventional work spaces, we provide a modern study environment with multimedia group work rooms and a lounge area.
The Portal is the central access point to electronic campus services around study and teaching offered at Ulm University.
Most of these services require authentication with a kiz account. Upon login, the portal – based on the central Identity Management System – provides functions and data that are personalised and user group-dependent.
