History
The foundation stone for the future University of Siegen was laid by the “Meadow Building School”, founded in 1853 and known beyond the country's borders. After the Second World War, the focus of the training shifted towards civil engineering. Since 1962, the school has therefore been called the "State School of Engineering for Construction".

I am interested in Hydro-Environmental Extremes because it focuses on understanding and addressing some of the most critical challenges related to water and climate, such as floods, droughts, and extreme weather events. These phenomena have significant impacts on ecosystems, infrastructure, and human lives. I find it motivating to study how scientific knowledge and data-driven approaches can help predict, manage, and reduce the risks associated with these extremes. Contributing to solutions that improve resilience and sustainability is what makes this field especially meaningful to me.
When you find the right programm to study
Since my studies were in a creative field and there were many opportunities to work not only theoretically but also practically, there was a lot of time to develop. The professors and lecturers rarely stopped us in our creativity, but rather encouraged us to give our all. Of course, there were one or two subjects that I didn't like 100%, but in return I learned something that I didn't know before. I was grateful for everything I could take away with me and for every opportunity I was given. I had the opportunity to do internships, improve my grades and, above all, make countless friends with people who liked the same things I did and shared my opinions in many respects, or with whom I could discuss shortcomings at a high level.
