The establishment of Athens University of Economics and Business came about as a matter of historic necessity following the economic, technological and social changes that took place in Greece at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.


Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) is a State University whose mission is to produce and disseminate knowledge in fields that serve both the national and international economy and society, as well as to mold responsible citizens capable of creating, contributing, participating and leading in the international environment. 


  • AUEB's Research Center was established in 1983. It aims at providing the institutional framework which facilitates and supports the research carried out by Faculty members, in the general fields of economics, management and computing.
  • Research at the Center is carried out mainly by members of the academic staff of the University. Visiting scholars and short-term appointees may also engage in research activities. All research is undertaken with a view towards eventual publication in scholarly journals, discussion papers and monographs.

Student services

The International Relations Office of the University was established in 1989. The main objectives of the Office are:

  • European Union educational programs,
  • participation in international student fora and exhibitions,
  • representation at international conferences and congresses,
  • organization of seminars, educational visits and cultural meetings,
  • promotion of the University activities abroad,
  • creation of new cooperation with foreign higher education institutions,
  • counselling to incoming and outgoing students.

Campus life

  • The Athens University of Economics and Business is centrally located in downtown Athens. The main building of the University is located at 76, Patission Street in Athens, two blocks away from the Archaeological Museum. 
  • The backside of the building faces the Pedion Areos Park and the Panellinios Sports Club. Four more buildings in the area cover the University's needs in offices and teaching rooms. 
  • One of them is located at 12, Kodrigtonos Street and the other at 12, Derigny Street. The Research Center is located a few blocks away, at 46, Kefallinias Street and the Graduate School building is located at Louzitania building at the corner of Evelpidon and Lefkados Street.

The computer science program is hard but interesting. There are also mane areas of specification to choose and many different courses. Also the fact that it is in a business school can help students combine computer science with business.
