The University of Economics, Prague (VŠE), founded in 1953, is the biggest public university of economics in the Czech Republic.
The mission of the University of Economics – VŠE, Prague is to provide Czech and foreign students with higher education, of a superior quality, in a wide range of managerial, economic and other degree programs at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree levels. These courses of studies help the graduates to obtain excellent employment on the international labor market. All VŠE study programs are provided by highly qualified, competent and motivated academics.
The VŠE systematically develops scientific research activities, including the preparation of students on Doctoral programs, while respecting the inseperability of teaching and scientific research activities. The VŠE’s high standard of professionalism as an institute of higher education is internationally recognized. Furthermore, the VŠE has partnership arrangements with many governmental bodies, as well as with non-governmental organisations (NGO’s). The university also cooperates with the business community.
The VŠE’s aim is to take a leading position in the management and economic education market in Central Europe. The VŠE wants to be an internationally respected, and much sought after, research university which provides an elite Bachelor‘s, Master’s and Doctoral education in management, economics and their related disciplines, at all faculties, in addition to providing quality lifelong learning programs for top managers. The VŠE wants to educate, and nurture, such graduates as will have the necessary potential to grow in their professional careers in order to wield a positive influence on the broader aspects of social, moral and environmental responsibility in society.

The Department for the Administration of Facilities (SUZ), as a separate structural unit of the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE) deals especially with accommodation of students and boarding. In order to perform these important tasks in providing facilities for the student community, it operates eight halls of residence, three canteens and one buffet. The activities of SUZ are not limited to services in Prague; it operates also in Jindřichův Hradec, where the VŠE´s Faculty of Management is located.
The university library contains more than 430 thousand books and 330 journals and provides access to numerous electronic databases with e-journals and periodicals on a broad range of topics. Students may use hundreds of computer stations on campus, a wireless network, or the modern Integrated Study Information System (InSIS).
Computer labs are located in the rooms SB18, SB19 (out of courses schedule) and the university library. There is free access to WiFi on the university campus if you use your own laptop. Study Centre and Internet access are available in the dormitory, too.
All students of VSE obtain a student ID card which allows them to use the facilities and services offered by the university, i.e. library, canteen, computer laboratory, WiFi connection, etc.
The university is highly appraised both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The Faculty of Business Administration is EQUIS accredited, which ranks the faculty among the top 1% of business schools in the world. Two master’s degree programs „International Business – Central European Business Realities“ and „Mezinárodní obchod“ (taught at the Faculty of International Relations) were certified with EPAS accreditation by the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development).
The school is great, however compared to education in the nordics the level of teaching is lacking a little.
I wish there would be more activities and support for international students.
My university of economics and business is very practical with high-quality teachers. The classes on my masters programme, I am currently enroled for, are in form of discussions, project works and term papers.
