Founded in 1875, IUP is a vibrant, comprehensive, research-based, teaching-focused, student-centered learning community.
Not only does IUP offer an abundance of undergraduate and master’s programs, but it is the only university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to offer Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Degrees are offered from the broader, more traditional (philosophy, anthropology) to the career specific (safety sciences, respiratory therapy). IUP boasts:
A living-learning community is a community of students who live together in a university residential facility or a portion of the building, such as a floor or wing, and participate in academically and intellectually engaging learning activities designed specifically for them.
Research has shown that students in living-learning programs tend to have a smoother transition to college, higher grades, more mentoring from faculty, a stronger sense of civic engagement, and fewer problems with alcohol and other drug use.
Stapleton/Stabley Library, located on the Indiana campus, is the central university library. The IUP library system has a collection of more than 900,000 books, maintains subscriptions to about 15,000 serials in multiple formats, and houses more than 100,000 audiovisual materials.
IUP’s beautiful main campus is located in Indiana, Pa., and spans 374 acres. A combination of historical charm and state-of-the-art facilities, it includes 59 major buildings and 11 athletic fields.
Affiliate campuses are located in Northpointe (Armstrong County) and Punxsutawney, Pa.
The IUP Academy of Culinary Arts also is in Punxsutawney.
IUP offers courses through the State System’s Dixon Center in Harrisburg and through distance education.

Indiana University of PA is a very quiet place very suitable for studying. It is a very small country, but most of the students are from the other states because of its quietness and the university is very welcoming. Its good university without academic distractors.
