Overview

The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Master’s Degree in Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) is a new program built on over 40 years of experience in adult education and 20 years of experience in instructional design. The IDT program employs a theory-to-practice approach that encourages students to relate course content to their careers and specific areas of interest.

Designed for the working professional, course meetings are offered in the evenings. You can complete this program from the Indiana camps or entirely from a distance. The IDT coursework engages students not only with projects, but with other students and the instructors for a rich rewarding learning experience. The entire master’s program can be completed in two years attending part-time.

Thanks to our distance option, students can participate in the program from any location, an excellent option for the working professional. Flexible completion options allow students to complete the program without having to travel to classes in Indiana. You can attend courses through our video conferencing technology, allowing you to participate in live classes from your home or office.

Prepare to Enter a Growing Field

A master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology prepares you to enter what the US Bureau of Labor Statistics considers a field with a bright outlook. This designation means that the BLS considers it an emerging field with good current and future opportunities and openings for professionals.

In 2018, the median wage was at $30.98 hourly, $64,450 annually, with most positions requiring a graduate degree or higher. Over the next 10 years, the need for instructional designers and technologists is expected to grow by 5–8 percent.*
