College of Charleston

Charleston, South Carolina, United States
Over 10,000 undergraduates and approximately 1,000 graduate students at the College enjoy a small-college feel blended with the advantages and diversity of a mid-sized, urban university. They work closely with a committed faculty, made up of more than 500 distinguished teacher-scholars.

At the College of Charleston, the past and the future influence life every day of the year. Here rows of venerable live oak trees, draped with Spanish moss, shade the brick walkways of the main campus. In the weathered buildings you can almost feel the presence of those who have gone before – students and faculty members, who like those today, questioned yesterday's theories and tested tomorrow's ideas. History isn't an anchor here, but a strong foundation for the College's dedicated learning community, furthering exploration, discovery and creativity.

Center for International Education (CIE) develops, coordinates and implements programs and services to assist students to study abroad; facilitates international student recruitment and exchanges with international partner institutions; assists international students and faculty with immigration issues; advises international students on academic and enrollment matters including cultural adjustment, and serves as the main point of contact for international study.

Participating in a challenging and meaningful undergraduate research project or creative activity can be the single most important experience that you will have in college. Plus, collaborative research is a great way to work one-on-one with a faculty mentor.

This College is more than just a place to work; it’s a place where you can build a career and make a difference for our students and the community. The Office of Human Resources is here to help you succeed in doing just that. We offer a wealth of benefits, resources and learning opportunities to help you make the most of your time at the College and we encourage you to take advantage of these.

Student Life

Campus life

The College of Charleston campus is smack dab in the middle of one of the most lovingly preserved historic districts in America (look both ways for horse-drawn carriages). It's like going to school in a postcard.

Sports facilities

The sports clubs are the perfect place to release your inner athlete and often make for a great excuse to hang out at the beach. Or, you can experience hands-on media training with CisternYard Media, an organization that controls our campus television studio, radio station, the newsroom and our award-winning literary magazine, Miscellany.

Student clubs

College is a great place to meet people with similar backgrounds or hang out with a whole new crowd. Whatever your preference, we have dozens of religious, international and multicultural organizations to serve our diverse student body.
