The University of Chichester is a university based in West Sussex, England. Campuses are based in the city of Chichester and the nearby coastal resort of Bognor Regis. The university is one of the newest in the United Kingdom, receiving privy council permission to adapt its status in October 2005.

About

History

  • The University of Chichester can trace its origins back to 1839. In the early part of the 19th century, there was considerable debate about the role of church and state in university education.
  • In 1828 students were accepted for the first secular university institution in the country, which later became University College London. 

Education

We undertake a research that makes a real difference to society, to this end many staff are involved in consultancy with private and public sector organisations, work with professional associations, act as advisors for government bodies, and work in collaboration with academics at home and abroad.

Student services

The International Student Advisory Service (ISAS) is here to provide on-going support for international and EU students and can help you settle in to living and studying in Chichester or Bognor Regis. We offer a wide range of support and advice: Banking, culture shock, driving in the UK, emergency loans, employment and work permits, equal opportunities, exam concessions, fees and funding, health cover.

Housing services

  • Accommodation is located over both our campuses and throughout the city of Chichester, including Stockbridge Student Village which is close to the railway station and the entertainment complex.
  • All of our Halls of Residence and University accommodation are professionally managed, secure and supported by our team in the Accommodation Office 24/7, so you will feel right at home.

ICT services

The University of Chichester’s cutting edge Engineering and Digital Technology Park, opening Summer 2018, puts a little STEAM behind STEM. By bringing together science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics courses on one state-of-the-art site, we aim to produce graduates that have enterprise skills, creativity, technical knowledge and are equipped to enter the graduate workforce.

The University has a Student Health Centre on each campus where you can access information. You can visit the Nurse Health Adviser there if you have any health concerns.

  • BISHOP OTTER CAMPUS - CHICHESTER

The Bishop Otter campus in Chichester is set in beautiful surrounding, with plenty of green space to relax in, along with a combination of attractive, historic buildings and excellent, modern facilities.

  • BOGNOR REGIS CAMPUS

The Bognor Regis campus is just five minutes from the sea and boasts beautiful Georgian architecture including three grand mansion houses - St Michael's, the Dome and Mordington House.

Accreditation

  • The University of Chichester is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) accreditation. Investors in People is a government-backed national standard that recognises good practice in the training and development of people to achieve business goals.
  • The Support and Information Zone (SIZ) gained the Customer Service Excellence accreditation after a rigorous inspection by an independent assessor. The department was set-up in January 2012 bringing a series of separate branches together to support the needs of students and to operate as the main reception.
