The University at Albany has a rich history dating back more than 170 years.In 1844, a "normal school" was founded in Albany to train teachers for a rapidly growing population. For nearly 50 years, the Normal School provided a two-year education to students from across the state.

The Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Engagement (CURCE) is an integral part of the University at Albany in the advancement of the mission, vision, and priorities. We make a daily investment in students who are on their path to identifying and exploring opportunities that will help them to develop competencies necessary to become engaged citizens.
CURCE provides students with access to experiences that enhance student success. Our team engages students as they explore opportunities that compliment and reinforce their classroom learning through research, scholarship, and creative activities on campus, in the community, and around the world.
Our services are available to both current students and alumni who have graduated within the past five years. We also work with employers to help them connect with students.

I have completed my wassce exam, gaining strong knowledge in physics, chemistry and biology. Throu practical labs and academic projects, I developed problem solving skills, discipline and passion for medicine and engineering, preparing me to contribute meaningfully to my community and future studies.
Outstanding university! Gave a lot of supports to students. The academic staff and faculty are very impressive too! Will recommend this to anyone looking for degree beyond the undergraduate! Be prepared though since Albany is often very cold. The food around the area is pretty nice too!
My opinion on Albany State University located in Albany, Georgia is that of mediocrity. From my personal experience, a degree that should�be taken four years has taken me six to seven. I was originally a social work major and going into my senior year I ended up switching to a sociology major. I am a unprecedented student being the fact that I grew up in care and have no parents so I have no financial support. With that being said, the university should�ve stepped in as an adoptive parent almost to make sure I had everything I needed and to take care of my every step of the way. That was no the case. Albany State University almost fought me every step of the way to graduation. I even ended up walking across the stage in May, was contacted in July and told I didn�t graduate, was required to pay $1,200 to retake one class to pass for Albany State to release my diploma, and had to go another 6 months being unemployed because I did not possess my diploma. Albany State University didn�t supplement my income, they didn�t help get work study, they didn�t help with career or internship opportunities; they did not help with almost anything. I�ve gone my entire college life working full time pulling over 100 hours a pay period and getting my work done. However, because my life was not convenient for University lifestyle that made my life and college experience even harder.

The Center for International Education and Global Strategy is your connection to UAlbany's International resources. If you want to participate in UAlbany's growing global community, you are always welcome.
Each of four residence quads on the Uptown Campus house approximately 1,200 students and include eight, three-story halls and a 23-story tower. Each quad includes lounges and recreational areas and three quads contain dining facilities. Nearby Freedom Apartments has apartment-style living, and Empire Commons provides single-room apartment-style living for 1,200 students. Liberty Terrace, an architecturally award-winning, environmentally friendly living complex, provides another 500 apartment-style beds. Housing is also available on Alumni Quad, located near the Downtown Campus.
Located on the west side of the academic podium, University Library houses collections as well as reference services, computer stations, study spaces, information literacy classes and much more.

Student Health Services supports the academic performance and lifelong wellness of University at Albany students by providing compassionate, student-centered, quality health care, which is inclusive and respects the uniqueness of each individual.
The University’s main campus was designed in 1961-62 by renowned American architect Edward Durell Stone.
The Downtown Campus is a classic Georgian-style complex that served from 1909-66 as the main campus. Recently renovated, it houses the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, the School of Criminal Justice, the School of Social Welfare and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
The Health Sciences Campus is one of the region's booming bioscience research and high-tech centers. Its academic anchor is the School of Public Health, and its research facilities include the Cancer Research Center, home to the GenNY*Sis Center for Excellence in Cancer Genomics, and the Center for Functional Genomics.
Outdoor recreational facilities include lighted tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, and several multipurpose playing and intramural areas. John Fallon Field, dedicated to UAlbany men’s and women’s lacrosse, has seating capacity of 2,500. The Tom and Mary Casey Stadium, home to football and men's and women's soccer, opened in the fall of 2013.
Indoor athletic facilities are dominated by the SEFCU Arena. The facility is home to NCAA Division I Great Dane basketball, and also houses a running track, a modern fitness center, a fully equipped athletic training complex with whirlpools and other rehabilitative equipment, two main locker rooms and several smaller team locker rooms.
