About

History

The Methodist Episcopal Church founded Emory College in 1836 in the small Georgia town of Oxford. The founders named the town for the school's prestigious British cousin, and named the school for a bishop who dreamed of an American education that molded character as well as the mind.

Education

Emory empowers the active, passionate pursuit of learning for a better world. Through teaching, research and service, our faculty members play an essential role in helping Emory achieve its vision of an inquiry-driven, ethically engaged and diverse intellectual community.

The university offers academic degrees and programs through nine schools, including more than 70 undergraduate choices and dozens of graduate and professional specialties. The academic year is divided into two semesters, plus a summer term.

Research

Emory is one of the nation's leading research universities, building on an uncommon combination of campus-based resources and global partnerships.

Our students pursue doctoral research in more than 40 specialties. The Woodruff Health Sciences Center brings together the research based at the university's schools of medicine, nursing and public health and at Yerkes National Primate Research Center with the expertise of Emory Healthcare. Our library system integrates the resources of the Robert W. Woodruff Library with several specialty collections on campus.

Career

Finding a job or internship as an international student does come with some additional responsibility, but The Career Center and the office of International Student & Scholar Services are here to help.
