Opportunities

As a student in the M.S. in Special Education (Autism) at the Long Island University (LIU) program, you will study the assessment and instruction of students with severe disabilities, behavior management for children with autism and developmental disorders, communication development and language disorders in children with autism, and other subjects central to the education of individuals on the autism spectrum. Professors with extensive experience and expertise lead small classes, and the program places considerable emphasis on field study and practicum.

The M.S.Ed. in Special Education program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, signifying that the program of study meets the highest standards of quality in preparing competent, caring and qualified professional educators who will teach and lead in public and private schools.Candidates must possess initial teaching certification in childhood education.

GMAT admission requirements GMAT The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a test intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA. GMAT contains 4 sections - Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal. The score has a range from 200 - 800.

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at desiganated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.
PTE Academic admission requirements PTE Academic PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) is a language test that enables students to demonstrate their writing, listening, speaking, and reading skills when applying to study in English. The score refers to a total score which ranges between 10 and 90.

  • Applicants must have achieved at least a 3.0 in major and 3.0 overall cumulative GPA in a bachelor's program. Initial (or provisional) childhood teaching certificate is required.
