About

This Economics program at California State University Long Beach is designed to prepare students for careers in the public or private sectors and gives a solid foundation for students who will pursue a doctorate degree.

Overview

We specialize in areas of research that align with our recognized expert faculty members, including environment and natural resource economics, transportation economics, and international trade and development.

The programme

As business becomes increasingly quantitative, students need strong analytical and empirical skills to compete in the marketplace. The Master of Arts in Economics at CSULB provides students with the skills they need to succeed in positions in the public or private sector and gives a solid foundation for students who will pursue a doctorate degree.

Our Economics program at California State University Long Beach emphasizes applying economic theories using statistical methods and quantitative skills. The program consists of core courses in economic theory, econometrics, and research methods. The degree culminates with seminar courses in a specific field and general economics, where students undertake independent research projects. Students must successfully defend their research as part of a comprehensive exam to graduate.
