The Division of Interior Design recognizes the definition of a professional designer as the cornerstone of its philosophical underpinnings.
There are two post-professional program offerings in the Division of Interior Design. The first Interior Design (Post-Professional) degree delivered at University of Oklahoma is for students with an undergraduate degree in interior design or a related field and requires 33 credit hours for completion. The second is for students with an undergraduate degree accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). Incoming students with a CIDA-accredited ungraduated degree require only 30 hours for program completion.
Program Goals

- Promote global stewardship with opportunities to serve society through community-engaged service-learning projects across the curriculum.
- Engage design professionals and alumni who support students through mentoring and sharing of knowledge and experience.
- Evolve and respond to the needs of the profession and CIDA accreditation requirements through ongoing assessments of and improvements to the curriculum.
- Provide resources including laboratories, tools, and equipment to support student learning.
- Maintain high job placement rates for graduates of the program.

Courses include:- The interior design process follows a systematic and coordinated methodology, including research, analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process, whereby the needs and resources of the client are satisfied to produce an interior space that fulfills the project goals.

General requirements
- A transcript from all previous institutions confirming a minimum grade point average of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 for undergraduate studies is required.
- A portfolio of work, 8” x 11” format preferred.
- A statement, limited to 500 words, of the intent for pursuing graduate studies in interior design at the University of Oklahoma.
- Three letters of recommendation from professional or educational references.
- A student enrolled in the final semester of undergraduate studies may apply for admission to the graduate program in interior design for the next regular semester following completion of his/her undergraduate degree.
