The International Education Policy and Management program of Vanderbilt University will equip you with the skills needed to address contemporary public policy issues facing education and informal learning environments around the world.

Program Description

Provided with a strong background in research and data and a focus on practical application, you’ll be prepared to address salient issues in international education today, including the relationships between education and economic growth, social cohesion, global health, and other dimensions of human development.

The International Education Policy and Management program of Vanderbilt University in the Department of Leadership, Policy and Organizations attracts those with diverse career interests related to the practice or study of education and human and economic development in international contexts.

Students come to the program from around the world to form a diverse student cohort at Peabody College, with about half of the program comprising international students. Many students bring professional experience in teaching, development assistance, advocacy, and community outreach from organizations like the Peace Corps, Teach for America, and the U.S. Student Fulbright Program. Such a broad array of professional backgrounds enriches all students' learning.

Vanderbilt University was founded in 1873 by Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt and currently enrolls more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students throughout its ten schools, including law, medicine, education, divinity and management. The combination of cutting-edge research, liberal arts and a distinguished medical center creates an invigorating atmosphere where students tailor their education to meet their goals and researchers collaborate to solve complex problems related to health, culture, society and commerce.

An independent and privately supported university with more than 2,500 faculty, Vanderbilt is located a mile and a half from downtown Nashville on a park-like campus that was designated a national arboretum in 1988.
