With their unique skillset, Veterinary Clinical Care students from Colorado State University will help relieve veterinarians from extra tasks, enhancing the efficiency of the veterinary care team as a whole. Veterinary professional associates will have knowledge and authority, under supervision of a licensed veterinarian, to diagnose and treat common illnesses and injuries, but veterinary care teams will still need the expertise of veterinary technicians to provide well-rounded care to patients.

Careers

Graduates are prepared to work as Veterinary Professional Associates (VPAs) — a mid‑level clinical care role emerging in some U.S. states. VPAs work under supervision of licensed veterinarians and:

Provide routine veterinary care to dogs & cats
Perform physical exams and basic diagnostics
Assist with common treatments and case management
Support team efficiency in clinical settings
Engage in client communication and care coordination

Minimum two references; one reference must be from a person who has recently supervised your veterinary experience
Three essays, maximum of 3,000 characters each; one veterinary experience essay, one personal experience essay, and one online learning experience essay
