Overview

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (Online) program offered by Old Dominion University is proud to have a simulation lab set up as a birthing room that includes a birthing mother, preterm infant and a term infant. We also collaborate with Eastern Virginia Medical School's Standardized Patient Program. It's one of the largest in the U.S. with specialized actors who provide safe practicum experiences to learn and refine clinical nursing skills. Students will also complete a clinical practicum in a newborn nursery, or in a level II, III, or IV NICU.

Key Facts

Students must travel to ODU's School of Nursing in Virginia Beach for scheduled training and/or testing at certain points in the online NNP program.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master's degree program in nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Old Dominion University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

General requirements

Transcripts, translations and standardized tests must be official, sealed, stamped by the institution or testing agency and sent directly to the Office of International Admissions at Old Dominion University.
Testing authorities may include the Registrar or the Principal/Controller of Examinations.
When English is not the language of instruction, academic transcripts are required in both English and one's native language.

Once submitted, no additional documents can be uploaded through the online application.
In addition to meeting general ODU requirements for graduate admission, you must hold a current license as a registered nurse and have an undergraduate degree in nursing from a NLNAC OR CCNE accredited program (preferred) or a bachelor's degree in a related field. You must be accepted as a degree-seeking student in order to register for nursing courses.
