The purpose of the social work profession is to promote human and community well-being. Colorado Mesa University offers a Master in Social Work, with a Social Work - Advanced Standing degree.

Master of Social Work Programme Goals
Through experiential learning, in the pursuit of social, racial, economic, and environmental justice, the goals of the Advanced Generalist MSW programme are to prepare graduates who will:- Utilize advanced social work skills to engage in ethical, autonomous, and multi-disciplinary practice across system levels utilizing an ecological perspective. (Specialized Knowledge, Ethical Reasoning)
- Utilize therapeutic approaches and clinical skills to advance social, economic, and environmental justice, promote human rights, and engage in social action to eliminate oppressive conditions. (Applied Learning, Information Literacy)
- Utilize the NASW code of ethics to become leaders that value and appreciates human relationships, dignity and worth of others, and engages in diversity to advocate for inclusive practices, cultural humility, anti-racist practices, and develop structural competence. (Specialized Knowledge, Communication Fluency, Critical Thinking, Ethical Reasoning)

General requirements
- Advanced Standing Applicants must have earned a bachelor social work degree from a CSWE Accredited program within five years of admission to the MSW program.
- Advanced Standing Applicants must have successfully completed, at least, 400 hours of practicum experience during their BSW program.
- Advanced Standing applicants must provide a copy of their practice education evaluation and proof of completed hours from CSWE accredited social work program.
- Minimum overall GPA 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in major degree area.
- Students may be required to pass a background check for program participation due to practice education training requirements.
- Complete Social Work Application forms (transcripts, resume, recommendations, and personal statement).
- Nonrefundable $50 application fee.
