The Family Nurse Practitioner program is designed for working registered nurses seeking education and clinical skills as a FNP.
The post-master’s certificate FNP program at Saint Francis University is designed for the student who already has earned a master’s degree in nursing and is seeking to become a family nurse practitioner.

- Upon successful completion, graduates are able to sit for either the AANPBC or ANCC FNP certification exam.
- No GRE or GMAT required.
- To advance your nursing career as a family nurse practitioner (FNP), the University offers two (2) programs that you can choose from: MSN FNP Track or PMC FNP Program.

General requirements
- Current RN license in U.S. state/territory or local where student will complete clinical requirements. Licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required for clinical coursework completed in Pennsylvania;
- Official transcripts verifying the conferral of a baccalaureate (bachelor’s) degree in nursing from an ACEN, CCNE, or CNEA accredited program;
- Application essay that includes career goals;
- Two professional references (These letters/forms should be completed by two people who can attest to your aptitude for graduate work and leadership in the profession);
- Experience/employment history/professional activity (e.g. community, organizational, and volunteer service, and creative professional accomplishments);
- Interview with program faculty (in person, online, or by phone);
- Ability to attend the required program residencies (and review course for FNP students);
- Students must meet the Technical Standards for Admission;
Work experience
- A minimum of one year of full-time work experience as a registered nurse is required prior to registration in clinical or specialty courses.
