The mission of the Evaluation, Assessment, Research, and Learning program of the Georgia Southern University is to provide students with professional educational research knowledge and skills needed to engage in data-informed decision making for the successful delivery of human services in a variety of settings.

Overview

The Evaluation, Assessment, Research, and Learning program of the Georgia Southern University provides an opportunity for both individuals transitioning from undergraduate to graduate studies and working professionals to develop and/or further enhance their educational research skills and knowledge in order to meet their career goals. Offered through a fully online, flexible delivery model, this degree program emphasizes activities that are designed to promote 21st century skills including critical thinking and problem solving; collaboration and teamwork, especially in virtual workspaces; and information and communication technology literacy.

Learning Outcomes

Specifically, graduates of this program will be able to:

  • interpret and critically evaluate published educational research;
  • examine various contexts, environments, and factors that influence learning;
  • develop and implement qualitative and quantitative designs and analyze data to answer research questions;
  • develop a program evaluation plan;
  • report and communicate educational research findings;
  • and use their applied educational research skills as a way of improving educational environments and other related settings.

General requirements

  • Complete requirements for a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. This program is a non-certification program and does not lead to a certificate upgrade.
  • Present a cumulative 3.0 (4.0 scale) grade point average or higher on all undergraduate and graduate work combined.
  • Submit a personal statement of purpose, between 500 and 1000 words, that identifies the applicant’s reasons for pursuing graduate study and how admission into the program relates to the applicant’s professional aspirations.
  • Submit three (3) professional letters of reference.
