Ohio Dominican University's Master of Science in Sport Management prepares you for a successful career in the dynamic and growing field of sport. The program is based in sport business, which prepares you with an advanced knowledge and analytic base in management to meet the needs of one of the fastest growing international industries.


The mission of the graduate sport management program is to be student-focused and to connect the established theoretical frameworks of sport management, business, and other ancillary fields, with the fundamentals associated with effective practice in the field. 

The program aims to assist students develop their moral compasses through the lens of the Catholic and Dominican tradition. The goal of the program is to provide students with all of the resources to secure professional employment in the field through a strong curriculum, career and professional development, and network building.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • Complete an online graduate application. 
  • Pay a $25 application fee. This fee is waived for ODU alumni, military veterans, and active members of the armed forces. Payment is due before we can process your application.
  • Provide three professional or academic letters of recommendation to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
  • Submit a two- to three-page Statement of Intent (500 - 750 words) essay addressing what you will add to the classroom experience, how past academic and/or athletic experience training has equipped you for graduate studies and your career goals, and how the MSSM will help in achieving these goals.
