Reading literacy at Walsh University

Strong literacy skills are essential building blocks for students to succeed in school, and in all aspects of their lives. Teachers who are highly qualified in the area of language arts are in high demand as literacy expectations continue to increase. This program prepares experienced teachers to assess reading literacy, as well as develop, plan and implement reading programs to assist the diverse needs and abilities of students. Courses can be completed online or in the traditional classroom setting.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Completed application form
  • Official transcript(s) of undergraduate and other graduate study sent directly from the applicant's college(s) to Graduate Admissions at Walsh University. Transcripts are not necessary for Walsh University graduates.
  • A minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent) is required for admission to the program.
  • Recommendations by three unrelated persons qualified to appraise scholastic aptitude and personal and professional promise.
  • Interview with the Director of Graduate Education Studies in the Division of Education.
  • Copy of Teaching License (if a licensed teacher.)
