Benedictine University’s Master of Science (MS) in Integrative Physiology program is a rigorous one year program for students taking a "gap" year after graduation who are interested in entry to medical and other health professional and graduate schools.


The curriculum of the Integrative Physiology program from Benedictine University will deepen their understanding of physiology and explore various areas of medical and biological sciences. Both Fall and Spring start dates are available.

Students at Integrative Physiology program from Benedictine University will develop:

  • strengthen and deepen their knowledge of physiology and other biology sub disciplines through upper-level coursework complemented with high expectations in reading the professional literature and writing professionally in each course.

General requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry and physics and a semester of calculus or statistics, human physiology and cell biology.
  • Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 on a scale of 4.0 in all completed classes. 
  • Official transcripts from all past institutions attended, requested to be sent electronically to admissions@ben.edu.
  • A personal statement expressing the student’s desire for the healthcare profession and the benefits of this course of study to their long term goals.
  • Two letters of recommendation, Professional or academic
  • OR ONE Health Professions Recommendations Committee (HPRC) letter
