The Master of Accountancy program offered by Coastal Carolina University is intended to meet the needs of both career-changers and those already working in the accounting profession who wish to further develop their expertise in either our assurance or taxation tracks.


Both 30-hour tracks are designed to provide students with broad-based business education. Each curriculum focuses on enhancing the student’s analytical and critical-thinking skills, written and oral communication skills, and their understanding of the global nature of the accounting profession. ‌

For many students, the Accountancy program at Coastal Carolina University will also satisfy the educational requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.

Key Features

  • The assurance track includes courses in fraud examination, financial statement investigations, complex discovery and data management, litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency, economic damages, valuation, and lost profits.
  • The taxation track develops significant tax knowledge with concentration courses in estate and gift taxation, as well as taxation of C corporations and pass-through entities.

General requirements

  • Evidence of having received a baccalaureate degree with an overall 3.0 grade point average from a regionally accredited institution in this country or its equivalent at a foreign institution based on a four-year degree.
  • Completion of the Graduate Management Admissions Test [GMAT] within the last five (5) years. Students who have a 3.5 or higher GPA in their 300 and 400 level Accounting course work completed in an AACSB accredited institution are not required to take the GMAT.
  • If a non-native speaker of English, provide official results from tests taken within the last three years or one of the following acceptable means of documenting English language proficiency consistent with success in graduate programs.
