The Master of Science degree in Kinesiology is designed to prepare you for a rewarding career within the kinesiology and sports industry. The M.S. in Kinesiology offers a flexible curriculum to meet your specific needs and interests.


The Department of Kinesiology offers the following graduate concentrations:

  • Athletic Administration prepares you for administration of athletic programs at the youth sport, high school, collegiate, and professional levels. (Certificate)
  • Health and Wellness prepares you for opportunities in health, fitness, rehabilitative, and wellness professions. (Certificate)
  • Sports Medicine prepares you for the care of athletes and the physically active. (Certificate)
  • Interdisciplinary allows you to combine courses which best fit your interests and apply them to your professional career.
  • Research opportunities are available to help you build upon your thesis as the focus of your degree program. A certificate program may also be included in this concentration.

    The TOEFL®PBT is administered in a paper format and measures your ability to use and understand English in a classroom setting at the college or university level. Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 2.5

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 2.5 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

  • $50 non-refundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from all high school/colleges previously attended
  • Official scores from the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) or the American College Test (ACT).  The writing component can be submitted but it is not required. Scores must be included on an official high school transcript on the label from the testing agency or sent directly from the testing agency. Test scores must be no more than six years old at the time of admission.
  • Residency section of the application which is  used to determine Texas residency for tuition purposes. Texas residency is determined in accordance with state law.
