General requirements
- Application for admission submitted to the Graduate School
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Must meet one of the following:
- major in Spanish, foreign languages with an emphasis in Spanish, comparative literature, Hispanic linguistics, or translation (Spanish) or
- a combination of courses that will, in the opinion of the Department, allow the student to participate fully in the program by virtue of linguistic competence in Spanish; or
- immersion experience (a combination of courses that will, in the opinion of the Department, allow the student to participate fully in the program); or
- native fluency or
- demonstrated competence in a qualifying examination.
- 3.0 grade point average in the last 60 hours of undergraduate course work;
- a narrative statement of intent, written in Spanish that describes the applicant’s accomplishments and plans for the future;
- three letters of recommendation from current and/or former professors or advisors.
