About English Education from The University of Iowa
Department of Teaching and Learning programs prepare graduates for positions in public schools, local and state education agencies, clinical settings, and institutions of higher education. All licensure programs are approved by the Iowa Department of Education.
Undergraduate students pursuing a B.A. with a major in art education, elementary education, English education, mathematics education, music education, science education, social studies education, or world language education, must satisfy the GE CLAS Core requirements.

General requirements
- A U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or an equivalent degree from another country as determined by the Office of Admissions.
- A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00, or the foreign equivalent as determined by the Office of Admissions.

- You must first submit the online application to the Graduate College and pay the $60 application fee by credit card ($100 for international applicants).
- A statement of purpose
- A set of your unofficial academic records/transcripts uploaded on your Admissions Profile.
- Once recommended for admission, international students must send a Financial Statement.
