TalTech was established on 17 September, 1918, when the Estonian Engineering Society uniting local technology intellectuals began to provide special engineering courses in German-occupied Estonia. In 1919, the activities were continued under a private school called Tallinn College of Engineering (TCE).

ESN TTÜ IC is a society set up by the Student’s Council of TalTech. It is also a section of Erasmus Student Network (ESN), an international student organization set up to help exchange students.
The mission of ESN TTÜ International Club (IC) is to integrate international students into Estonian life. ESN TTÜ International Club was officially founded in 2003 and consists of 20-30 active students of TTÜ. Tutors are mostly volunteers, who are either international or local degree students in TTÜ.
