TalTech was established on 17 September, 1918, when the Estonian Engineering Society uniting local technology intellectuals began to provide special engineering courses in German-occupied Estonia. In 1919, the activities were continued under a private school called Tallinn College of Engineering (TCE).

Student services

ESN TTÜ IC is a society set up by the Student’s Council of TalTech. It is also a section of Erasmus Student Network (ESN), an international student organization set up to help exchange students.

The mission of ESN TTÜ International Club (IC) is to integrate international students into Estonian life. ESN TTÜ International Club was officially founded in 2003 and consists of 20-30 active students of TTÜ. Tutors are mostly volunteers, who are either international or local degree students in TTÜ.

TalTech offers 7 different residential living communities. Most of the residences are located in Mustamäe, at close range of university study buildings. The newest TalTech Student Campus building is located in Kristiine borough, near the centre of Tallinn.

Library services

  • The TalTech  Library (hereinafter: Library) is the University’s library, a research library and the public central technical library of Estonia. This rules ensure the implementation of these three main directions, within the scope prescribed by the statutes of the Library.

Medical services

All persons insured with health insurance in Estonia have a family practicioner who is the first person to consult with in the case of illness. One can register with a family practitioner by submitting an application to the physician selected.

If you are an EU citizen, please bring your European health insurance card or its replacement certificate to prove your eligibility for Estonian health care.

With its scenic location in Mustamäe, TalTech is the only campus-type university in the Baltic countries and one of the most compact university campuses in Europe. The territory of TalTech includes 72 buildings and has a total area of 55.5 hectares.

There is always something exciting happening at TalTech– scientific discoveries and experiments, new technologies and products, important lectures and conferences, etc. Campus is the scene of many communal activities, with a large number of student, cultural and sports events.

Peaceful but joyful and exciting experience. There are several different organisations and unions students can join during their study program which make studying way more interesting, e.g. Formula team, Robotics club, AIESEC, BEST, Culture club, student unions etc. The curriculums are constantly updated although there's still old soviet spirit inside of them in the sense that most proffessors ...

The environment of the university and Tallinn city is really good for the international students. Everyone in the staff is very dedicated to their job, the teachers are really cooperative and always willing to go beyond their responsibilities when it comes to the learning process.
