History
South East Technological University (SETU) is Ireland’s newest university, formed through the merger of two leading institutes. Though new in name, SETU builds on decades of academic excellence and innovation in the southeast region of Ireland, with campuses in Carlow, Waterford, and Wexford. With over half a century of experience in higher education, research, innovation, and collaboration, SETU nurtures a thriving community of over 18,000 students, supported by a dedicated team of more than 1,500 staff. Our vision is to expand our reach and impact even further in the next decade.

Programme with great opportunities and lecturers
The programme is a great opportunity for creative thinkers. It is constantly improving and opened to objective criticism. One of the biggest positives is a studio based learning with continual assesment. This way you can actively get feedback on your work, ask for guidance and progress without the feel of stressing about exams. If you're looking for an active learning, with an exploration of different skill sets, this is a great place to find out what you can do. I personally feel that it has been a challenging but enriching study so far.
Enjoyable and Wholesome
I am currently studying in South East Technological University's Waterford campus. While Waterford is a city it is one of the quieter smaller cities in Ireland. It's very wholesome and quaint. However, I think I am ready for the hustle and bustle of a big city. Student life is nice and its a nice central area of Ireland to live in. I am close to the coast and only 1-2 hours away from Dublin/Cork cities.
Exceptional Lecturer Support and Engagement
One of the most impressive aspects of my university experience is the attentiveness and dedication of the lecturers. Compared to the system in Spain, where teaching can sometimes feel less personalized, my university stands out for the exceptional level of support provided. Lecturers here are approachable, responsive, and genuinely invested in student success. They offer detailed feedback, maintain extended office hours, and take the time to ensure every student understands the material. This personalized approach has made my academic journey not only enriching but also highly engaging
