History
Founded under the name “Istanbul Kemerburgaz University” by Mehmet Altınbaş Education and Culture Foundation in 2008, the university proceeds on its way towards the future after its name was changed to “Altınbaş University” in 2017. Established at the bequest of the late businessperson, Mehmet Altınbaş, who had always emphasized the importance of “investing in education;” it is the precious legacy

Research
Advanced research activities are carried out in different fields of science, engineering, architecture, health sciences, and social sciences at Altınbaş University. Many research projects supported by Altınbaş University, TÜBİTAK, TÜSEB, İSTKA, Horizon Europe, and other international funds are ongoing at our university.
At the Office of the Dean of Research, the researchers are provided with support in finding project partners, publication incentives, scientific conference participation funding, project preparation support, intellectual property registration, and other processes related to research and development.

A Dynamic and challenging Academic Experience
The comprehensive engineering curriculum provides a robust foundation in essential principles, integrating them with the latest technological advancements. Students are prepared for a rapidly evolving industry through modules in cutting-edge fields like AI applications and advanced materials science, blending theory with forward practice and labs. The university has provided an environment that is both intellectually stimulating and welcoming, a significant benefit as an international student. Unfortunately, like every school Altinbas also has its shortcomings. For instance, the university could benefit from providing a more structured academic base for students, The university could significantly improve by enhancing its career services and expanding industry networking opportunities. These improvements would better equip students for successful transitions into both local and international job markets. Furthermore, providing more comprehensive campus-wide financial guidance and implementing a smoother process for administrative paperwork, particularly for international students, would be a beneficial addition. Overall, I would summarize my study experience as challenging yet satisfying. While navigating the rigors of the program and the complexities of international student life can be demanding, it has ultimately been a growth-oriented journey.
My Academic Experience in Ankara University
of Turkey’s oldest and most respected universities, it carries a legacy that you can feel the moment you step onto the campus. My faculty, the Faculty of Political Sciences, is especially historic—it dates back to 1859 as the “Mekteb-i Mülkiye,” and it’s famous for shaping some of the country’s most influential leaders. What I love most about Ankara University is the balance between tradition and modernity. The professors are experienced and deeply passionate about their fields, and they really push you to think critically. My courses in economics have been both challenging and rewarding, giving me the tools to approach real-world problems with confidence. The library and facilities are well-equipped, which makes studying here that much easier. But it’s not all about academics! The social side of university life here is just as exciting. As president of my faculty’s theatre club, I’ve performed in over a dozen productions, including some on state stages. There’s always something happening on campus—clubs, events, or just hanging out with friends at nearby cafes. Being in Ankara, the capital city, also has its perks. You’re close to everything—internship opportunities, cultural landmarks, and the heart of Turkey’s political scene. It’s a great place to combine studying with real-world experiences. All in all, Ankara University isn’t just a place to learn; it’s a place to grow, connect, and discover who you are. If you’re looking for a university with strong academics, a rich history, and a lively campus life, this is definitely the place to be!
Not bad
I'm Pursuing 2nd year, Masters in English Literature via distance education. They provide us the study materials on time for last 2 semesters. But for 3rd semester they didn't provide us the study materials even the exam schedule has been published. Even after many students had complaint about this, no response from the management side. They can address the students queries effectively, because it is one the turning points of the students life.

International Office: International Office is the central coordinating unit for all the international activities of Altinbas University. If you cannot find the information you need on our website, please feel free to contact this Office. The Office is responsible for:
- international representation of the University,
- making contribution to internationalization of the University,
- international student recruitment,
- providing support and counselling to international students.
Registrar's Office: AU Registrar’s Office is responsible for sustaining the proper and effective conduct of learning activities at Altınbaş University.
Housing services
Altınbaş University, which has the highest standard student dormitories in Turkey, aims to provide students with a peaceful and secure environment throughout their academic lives. The student dormitories are designed to support students in both their academic and social lives.
Students have access to private drawing rooms, study rooms, and computer equipment for study purposes. In addition to study rooms, the dormitories also include TV rooms, a restaurant, a game room, a fitness center, a music room, and vending machines for food and drinks.
Library services
Altınbaş University Libraries serve in three campuses and in the affiliated hospital. The total library area is 3234m2 and has a seating capacity of 750 students. In addition, they have independent 24/7 working areas and 18 group study rooms in each of the campuses.
In the libraries, they have 82,124 books, 33 database subscriptions, 335,971 e-books, 40,122 e-journals.
ICT services
- To ensure that the technologies that will provide the best education are used in our university by using the technological opportunities in the areas needed by the university with an experienced and knowledgeable staff,
- To ensure that the maintenance, support, training, and consultancy services provided to the education and research activities
Medical services
The Health Services Unit provides service on all the campuses between 08.30 and 17.30 on weekdays. A full-time doctor and nurses are employed The Psychological Support Unit aims to assist Altınbaş University students and staff in their individual, social and academic development, facilitate their adaptation to university and dormitory life, and provide them with the necessary skills.
Campus life
- Mahmutbey Campus boasts ultramodern research and teaching facilities for the majority of academic subjects. It is 15 minutes drive away from the largest airport in Istanbul. Explore the nearby cities during your free time such as historic city of Edirne
- Bakırköy Campus is a home to Turkey’s largest health sciences campus among the foundation universities. It is located in a very central point of Bakırköy which is a very lively city centre with many shops, shopping malls.
- Gayrettepe is located in the heart of Istanbul where you will have an easy access to social and cultural activities, to the newest restaurants in town with Turkish and World cuisine by walk. Many multinational companies’ headquarters are here
Sports facilities
- Altınbaş University, conscious of the importance of sports in directing individuals toward common goals and discovering the value of working together, aims to maximize students' access to knowledge while also working to strengthen their connections with sports.
- In line with this vision, university teams have been formed in sports such as sailing, rowing, basketball, football, volleyball, taekwondo, table tennis, boxing, hado, karate, archery, kickboxing, and e-sports within the university.
Student clubs
One of the vital elements of the life at university is that the social activities should nourish the academic life. In this respect, students’ clubs function as the activity centres that provide a wonderful opportunity to socialize with fellow students, and to help to promote the sense of sharing and solidarity
In this university, student clubs and organizations are formed based on the current students' interests. Clubs functioning in various areas like music, sports, art, entrepreneurship, law, psychology, etc. prepare the students for the future
There are +80 active student clubs, students can always contact Health, Culture and Sports Office to participate in clubs, events and sports / e-sports teams.
