History
Salus University’s founding college, the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO), was established in 1919 and the history of PCO includes a long list of firsts in the history of modern optometry.
Education
To support faculty and student efforts to conduct research and other scholarly activity by creating an environment that promotes a culture of excellence in research designed to improve health and reduce illness and disability.
Research
Fundamental research is currently being conducted in a range of areas that span Audiology, Optometry, and Vision Impairment. Salus University researchers are published in such prestigious journals as Neuron, Nature, The Journal of Neuroscience and The Journal of Biochemistry.

Housing services
Salus University is fortunate to be located in an area that boasts ample affordable housing and good public transportation. Student housing is available within a wide variety of apartments easily accessible to both the Elkins Park and Oak Lane campuses. The Office of Student Affairs is available to assist students with finding housing and/or roommate(s) and to provide support throughout your relocation process to the greater Philadelphia area.
Library services
The University's Learning Resource Center operates as both a media-rich resource center and the hub of the Elkins Park campus. The modern learning commons includes the University's Help Desk service center, a coffee/tea bar, collaborative study rooms, individual seating for quiet studying, 20 desktop computers with access to printers and a 50-person classroom.
Sports facilities
The Hafter Center offers a place for fitness, fun, exercise and sport. The gymnasium is used for large combined classes, University events and student indoor sport competitions.
Student clubs
At Salus University you will find a wide range of student organizations that caters to the need of every program offered. From humanitarian based groups to student chapters of national organizations, there is no shortage of how you can impact the profession, the community, and your fellow classmates.
