History

Established in 1889 by the Order of Saint Benedict of Florida, the university seeks balanced growth in mind, body and spirit for all members of our community. Saint Leo has grown from a peaceful campus in the rolling hills of Central Florida to an institution of international consequence—ranked one of the best regional universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report.

Student services

The Multicultural and International Services Office (MISO) is dedicated to helping international students throughout your entire time at Saint Leo. We start with pre-arrival advising, and continue to offer guidance on everything from academic support and immigration to American slang and holiday customs.

A primary role of the Multicultural and International Services Office (MISO) is to serve as an intermediary between international students and the U.S. government.

Library services

University Campus students: the library building is open for extended hours during the academic year, along with all of our online resources and services.

Online students: you have access to many of the same resources as our Center students. We are always here to help you; whether you are on campus or around the world.

ICT services

There are two computer classrooms and one computer lab in the Daniel A. Cannon Memorial Library. Full Internet access and all necessary software for classes is available.

Campus life

Less than an hour from the vibrancy of downtown Tampa, our peaceful campus is surrounded by rolling green hills, dazzling orange groves, and clear-water lakes. All residence halls provide free Wi-Fi, laundry, cable, and a fridge, or full kitchen, in each room.

Sports facilities

There has never been a better time to be a Lion. Saint Leo Athletics is now a Top Five program in all of NCAA Division II. Our athletes compete in the Sunshine State Conference, which is known as the "Conference of National Champions."

Student clubs

  • EngageLeo is the university’s club and organization hub! With over 70 recognized clubs and organizations, EngageLeo allows students to fit their perfect fit!
  • The LEAD Scholars program provides leadership development and reflection activities for students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership potential and who are passionate about intentional leadership development during their time at Saint Leo University.
  • Parent and Family Programs strives to create a positive relationship with parents and families as we educate, engage, and guide both families and students through Saint Leo University.

Through hard work, the coursework led to academic success. Class discussions helped to interact with other students. Arranging two of the courses where we were assigned to large groups of seven for weekly projects proved to be stressful, as I learned that not all students chose to work hard.
