History
The university has operated for a century under six names: Arkadelphia Methodist College (1890-1904), Henderson College (1904-1911), Henderson-Brown College (1911-1929), Henderson State Teachers College (1929-1967), Henderson State College (1967-1975) and Henderson State University (1975- ).
Education

Henderson State University: My new family.
I'm currently taking online class from my home country, Nigeria, because my F1 study visa wasn't approved in the previous year. In all of this new transition, my school officials have been very supportive and they're are trying all their possible best to make learning online in this semester stress-free. I'd like to also add that my admission officer, Blake Smith, at Henderson state university is the best.

Housing services
No matter where you live on campus, your residence hall will provide everything you’d expect and need—easy access to campus facilities and dining, internet, and free laundry facilities. It also will be a place for you to grow, to take part in fun hall activities and programs, and to be supported by your resident assistant.
Library services
The Huie Library Atrium Student Gallery is located on the second floor of Huie Library. This exhibition space is primarily used to showcase student exhibitions. All shows are free and open to the public. The Huie Library Atrium Student Gallery is open during regular library hours.
Medical services
- Primary health care for illnesses and minor injuries, and health promotion services are provided by registered nurses and an advanced practice registered nurse.
- Professional counselors provide one-on-one consultation for Henderson students. Counseling staff act as a referral resource for other Henderson State University members. Group therapy is available to provide peer support in times of need.
Campus life
Henderson State University has an urban campus. Some of the buildings include the Donald W. Reynolds Science Center, Arkansas Hall, McBrien Hall, Mooney Hall, Womack Hall, the Garrison Activity and Conference Center, and Sturgis Hall. Sturgis Hall is a three story building that provides classrooms, laboratories, offices, and student housing for the Honors College. McBrien Hall provides classrooms, offices, labs, and conference rooms for the English, social sciences, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and foreign languages programs. It also holds the administrative offices for Ellis College of Arts and Sciences.
Sports facilities
The Henderson State University athletic department strives at all times to represent the very highest ideals in life. Because of the high visibility of athletes, we have a unique responsibility to be a positive influence on the lives of everyone associated with our program: student-athletes, other athletes, other students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends.
Henderson State University is an NCAA Division II school and competes in the Great American Conference. The school fields teams in Baseball, Basketball (Men and Women), Cross Country (Women), Football, Golf (Men and Women), Softball, Swimming (Men and Women), Tennis, and Volleyball.
