Overview

The degree consists of 30-36 hours which provides a pathway to the instructional facilitator license and the LEAD teacher designation. By completing 18 hours of graduate content knowledge coursework for a particular content area, graduates will be able to teach concurrent credit and adjunct at area colleges and universities.

This Teacher Leadership program at Henderson State University will prepare experienced teachers to assume leadership roles such as resource providers, instructional specialists, curriculum specialists, classroom supporters, learning facilitators, mentors, school team leaders, and data coaches.

Candidates will gain the skills and knowledge to demonstrate proficiency with the Arkansas Teacher Leader Model Standards through real-world application in K-12 settings. This program requires a current teaching license.

The MSE in Teacher Leadership provides you with the opportunity to expand your teaching abilities and grow in your content knowledge with the goal of providing your students with the best education possible. Eighteen hours in a specific content area provides in-service teachers with the ability to teach concurrent credit courses at the secondary level and in their specialty area at the college level.

General requirements

Candidates must have previously graduated with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Candidates must have a 2.7 grade point average for unconditional admission. Candidates may be admitted conditionally with a 2.5 grade point average. Students admitted with conditional status must earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 on the next six hours of course requirements and have no more than one course in these six hours with a grade of "C." Candidates must have at least one year of teaching experience in a B-12 setting.

GRADUATE SCHOOL ACCEPTANCE--Candidates must submit a graduate school application complete with fee, immunization form, informed consent form, official transcripts, and current educator license.
Candidates will complete the admissions interview and upon its successful completion, be admitted to the program.
