The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine accepted its first students in 1970. In 1975, TCOM came under the umbrella of North Texas State University, which later evolved into the UNT System that now includes campuses in Denton and Dallas

Founded more than 40 years ago as a small osteopathic medical school, we are today a thriving six-college graduate university with physicians and health providers representing most medical specialties. Our position at the forefront of innovation in the rapidly shifting field of health care is one of many things that make us extraordinary.
Our internationally – known faculty researchers are exploring new approaches to the treatment of disease, including Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease, Primary Care and Prevention and Investigative Genetics.

The health science center’s Gibson D. Lewis Health Sciences Library supports the educational, patient-care, research and community-service missions of the institution by meeting the information needs of faculty, students, staff and the local health sciences community

The clinical component of the UNT Health Science Center, UNT Health is dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for the people of Tarrant County and beyond. Through education and research we push the boundaries of discovery as we keep patients at the center of our efforts. Training medical students and residents is a regular part of our daily clinical practice.

Patrons must be at least 16 years of age to utilize Fitness Center amenities. (Includes use of outdoor court)All students are encouraged to enrich the UNTHSC community and their own personal development by getting involved on-campus. One method of involvement is joining a registered student organization. There are many organizations on the UNTHSC campus that represent a variety of interests within the health professions community. These groups are organized into Student Government Associations, Student Classes, and Student Organizations.
The UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth is approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and is a member of the Alliance for Higher Education, the Association of Academic Health Centers, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education and the Council of Graduate Schools.
