Since 1839, when Cyrus Peirce closed each of his lessons at what was then The Normal School with the phrase “live to the truth,” the Framingham State community has embodied this motto. We live to the truth by upholding the University’s mission of providing affordable, high-quality education to all qualified students.


FSU offers 60 undergraduate and graduate programs in the arts and humanities, behavioral and social sciences, and professional fields.

Housing services

Living on the Framingham State campus gives you an unparalleled opportunity to learn and grow. Our resident students enjoy being close to their classes, the library, and campus dining. Framingham State has a variety of residence hall communities, support staff, and campus activities, so students are sure to find something that they enjoy. Living on campus allows you to build your own community while providing access to resident assistants and hall coordinators who can help you navigate some of the challenges of adjusting to college life.

Framingham State's 7 residence halls come in all shapes, sizes and locations around campus, which means you have a lot of choices.

Library services

Henry Whittemore Library is a seven-level structure completed in 1969.  The building contains the University library as well as classrooms and other facilities, including the Copy Center, Print Shop, and the Communication Arts and Music Departments. Other features of the building include spacious reading and lounge areas and study carrels.

Medical services

The Health Center at Framingham State University provides acute and primary care services by a staff of board certified nurse practitioners. All students, regardless of insurance, can receive care at the Health Center.

Campus life

Located just 20 miles from Boston, Framingham State is both convenient for commuter students and an appealing home for those looking to live on campus, close to all the amenities of the city.

Sports facilities

Since the opening of the Athletic and Recreation Center, the intramural program at Framingham State has expanded to include more than 11 programs with over one thousand students participating.  The programs range from team sports such as indoor soccer, volleyball, basketball, whiffleball, and floor hockey to individual competitions including arm wrestling, bench press, triathlon, 3-point shooting, and table hockey.

Professors really care and want to help students succeed. They will be willing to donate much of their time to help you find internship opportunities and will give valuable advice. There are lots of opportunities for growth and leadership.
