Providence College was founded in 1917 through a joint effort of the Diocese of Providence and the Dominican Friars of the Province of St. Joseph, with the blessing of Pope Benedict XV and the consent of the General Assembly of the State of Rhode Island.
The Office of Academic Services at Providence College is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and to helping students prepare to become responsible and productive citizens in the greater societal and world communities.The Office of Academic Services is available to assist all Providence College students through a combination of academic and personal development programming, including individualized and group academic assistance, tutoring, specialized workshops, and outreach.
All matriculating students at Providence College are eligible to borrow from the Phillips Memorial Library. In order to borrow items from the library, students will need to bring appropriate identification. Students with PC ID cards should bring their PC ID cards to the circulation desk.
The Student Health Center provides comprehensive and confidential physical and mental health services for all full-time undergraduate students. The Student Health Center also provides relevant health and wellness programming including screenings on nutrition, physical activity, alcohol and other drug use, tobacco, stress, and general wellness.
The Office of Residence Life is committed to promoting student growth and educational opportunities in on-campus living. Our dedicated professional staff work with resident student leaders in the campus buildings where Providence College students spend the most time learning outside the classroom.
The Department of Recreational Sports supports more than a dozen Providence College club sports teams.
Providence College offers students the opportunity to participate in over 100 active clubs and organizations which focus on social, multicultural, political, professional, educational, athletic, community service, and wellness issues. Participation in these organizations offers the opportunity to take part in activities that interest them, affect change in our campus and local community, and develop friendships that can last a lifetime.
