Urban Teaching at Providence College focuses on understanding the sociocultural contexts of urban teaching and developing strategies for student success.
The Master’s in Urban Teaching program consists of 10 courses and has been designed to be flexible in meeting the needs and schedules of our students. Therefore, the program can be completed in as little as two or as long as five years.
The program follows a hybrid-cohort model in which the students take five classes as a group and five classes that suit their individual professional development interests. A new option for electives this year is a three-course focus area in English as a Second Language. All elective courses are selected in consultation with the Program Director.
