CIU was established on 4th February 1997, after a five-year consultative period to address the Higher Educational needs of the local and international community.
In terms of education CIU creates a truly international experience by attracting academic and administrative staff from all over the world. There is an emphasis on quality and interactive learning in an atmosphere convivial to study.
Our mission is to create a truly international experience by developing and disseminating universal knowledge, for the benefit of all society. Much of this is achieved by publishing academic research of an international standard and by specializing in innovative research relevant both locally in North Cyprus and globally.

Cyprus International University Library aims to provide various resources needed by students and faculty. In addition to a wide range of books and periodicals the CIU library subscribes to several databases, providing students access to hundreds of thousands of books and periodicals.
The Computer Center Directorate provides CIU with information technology (IT) resources and indicates the strategic priorities of the university, in terms of practicality, efficiency and security of the available IT services.
Health center is equipped with all the essential equipment for first aid. Also, a doctor and a nurse are constantly on duty to provide the students with first aid, identify and diagnose health issues and start treatment.

CIU ARENA, founded in 20 July 2010, is the first and biggest integrated sport complex in TRNC. It has 7500m^2 of closed area and 15.000m^2 of open area. There are two astro turfs, two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, two tennis courts, a beach handball court, a beach volley court and a beach football court in the open air space of the complex.
