Student Life

Campus life

Eastern's 300-acre parklike campus is just 17 miles from Washington's second largest city, Spokane. However, it is a matter of minutes from more than 20 lakes, beautiful mountains and the Turnbull National Wildlife refuge; all of which offer fishing, hiking, biking, boating, wildlife watching and more. This unique geographic positioning allows students the serenity to focus on their studies, the spirit of a small college town, the recreational opportunities of the Northwest and the invaluable internship opportunities and civic involvement offered by a major metropolitan area. It's no wonder more than 10,000 students (and counting) now make Eastern their home away from home.

Sports facilities

Eastern Washington University currently offers a variety of Club Sports to choose from. If you are interested in continuing to play a sport you have played before, or are up for trying something new, there is a long list of our current clubs in the drop down menu to the left. If you are not able to find something of your interest, there is always the possibility of starting a new club sport.

Student clubs

Eastern Washington University is home to over 150 student-run clubs & organizations that provide members with opportunities to develop as leaders, network with campus and community resources, and develop a support system while at EWU. Students who get involved in a club or organization will tell you that student involvement creates a transformative out-of-the-classroom experience that helps you maximize your time in college. Students are challenged to develop their own ideas, critically think, work as a team, and apply the knowledge they are gaining inside and outside of the classroom.
