Gannon University

Erie, Pennsylvania, United States
A four-year Catholic university, dedicated to providing a liberal arts education integrated with professional skills and faith-based learning.Gannon is a Catholic, Diocesan university dedicated to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service. Our faculty and staff prepare students to be global citizens through programs grounded in the liberal arts and sciences and professional specializations.

Gannon College of Arts and Sciences, founded as Cathedral College under the 1925 charter of Villa Maria College, was established by then-Archbishop John Mark Gannon, who in 1941 purchased one of the most elegant buildings in downtown Erie—the Strong Mansion (now known as Gannon’s "Old Main")—as the current campus’ central site.

Inspired by the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, we offer a comprehensive, values-centered learning experience that emphasizes faith, leadership, inclusiveness and social responsibility.

A private, Catholic, comprehensive co-educational institution, Gannon has emerged as Northwestern Pennsylvania’s premier Catholic university and is a valuable community and regional resource.

Leadership is fostered through a range of campus organizations and activities which enhance academic interests as well as volunteerism and community service, and which provide opportunities for intellectual, moral and spiritual growth.

Students are able to gain real-world, hands-on experience through the biomedical engineering program’s interdisciplinary collaborations within Gannon University, as well as  partnerships and collaborative agreements with regional, national and international organizations and universities, which provide students with diverse exposure to new technology, research and culture.

In addition to partnering with Gannon's Human Performance Laboratory, the biomedical engineering program's partners include:

Through a $13,000 grant, faculty and students will conduct research surrounding triathlon athletes, analyzing muscle movement and reaction forces.

Through career education initiatives, the team presents career exploration and readiness assistance in partnership with faculty, students and other members of the community. All students and alumni are invited to engage in one-on-one meetings with advisors and participate in both on and off-campus career events including employer visits and fairs.
