Overview
The program builds upon NC State University’s expertise in environmental issues and problem solving. The program is designed as a completely online degree. This technology allows professionals to complete their degree while still working. Through the program, students combine multiple fields of study to tackle complex environmental problems. The Master of Environmental Assessment at North Carolina State University requires completion of a professional project. Students will develop a project in his/her area of interest in collaboration with an appropriate:
- organization
- agency business
- faculty advisor.
The Professional Project, is an applied “capstone” experience that is a “paper study” which might include such tasks as assembling existing data and performing a risk assessment. In addition, an academic paper summarizing the relevant research in support of the professional project is required. Students will enroll in EA 665 as part of their project research. Upon completion of the research or project work, each student presents their project (both process and results) in a public departmental seminar.

Technological requirements
If at all possible, students should purchase a headset with mic that plugs into your computer (USB). You can pick up a basic headset for about $15 at an electronics store. Using the speakers and microphone built into your computer speakers causes an echo in the audio that is quite distracting when you participate in group chats.
