Overview

The M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education offered by University of Nevada, Las Vegas , will provide coursework that is in line with the Nevada Department of Education NDE Birth — 2nd grade teaching license (In addition, the programme provides course work beyond and above the requirements of the State of Nevada's Licensure requirements). Students will learn about the typically developing children and children with special needs and participate in field work.

The programme has two tracks, birth through 3 years and birth through 8 years. In the Early Childhood Education programme , students gain knowledge and skills for a variety of careers in educational and intervention programmes for young children.

Upon completion of the programme , graduates will be able to:

Use observation, documentation, and other appropriate assessment tools and approaches.

Know about assessment partnerships with families and other professionals.

Utilize effective approaches, strategies, and tools for early education.

Understand central concepts, inquiry tools, and structures of content areas or academic disciplines.

Use own knowledge and other resources to design, implement, and evaluate meaningful, challenging curriculum to promote positive outcomes.
