Overview

The MS in Economics at the University of Kentucky provides a strong foundation in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, in addition to allowing students to pursue some electives in their fields of interest.

The programme is committed to providing students, at both the graduate and undergraduate level, the opportunity to develop the skills to critically analyze economic data, to better understand and evaluate policies in both the private and public sectors, and to contribute more broadly to the betterment of society, both locally and globally.

Learning outcomes

The degree is often earned en passant to a Ph.D. in Economics or a related field; we do not typically admit students seeking a terminal master’s degree, although there may be exceptions (part-time students, international exchange students, or other special cases). If your ultimate goal is a Ph.D., you should apply directly to the Ph.D. program regardless of whether you already have a master’s degree.
