After Graduation

Upon successful completion of an INTO George Mason University Graduate Pathway in Systems Engineering and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your second semester of graduate study at George Mason University. This transition from an INTO Mason Pathway program to a university degree program is called 'progression'.

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The score refers to the total score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading), each subject has a range of 0 - 30.
IELTS admission requirements IELTS The International English Language Test System (IELTS) tests your English-language proficiency on a scale of 1 – 9. The score refers to the combined average score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading).

Age requirements: 17 years and above

Academic requirements: 4 yr undergrad degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, physical sciences or economics. Completion of multivariate calculus, linear algebra, calculus-based probability and statistics and a computer programming course with an equivalent of B or better required. 2.75 undergrad GPA

English language requirements:

  • 1-Semester: TOEFL iBT 75, IELTS 6.0, PTEA 52, Completion of AE Core and OCS Level 6, or IELA 169.
  • 2-Semester: TOEFL iBT 65, IELTS 5.5, PTEA 44, Password: 6.0 Knowledge and 5.0 Writing, Completion of AE Core and OCS Level 5, IELA 162, or Duolingo 55 (IELA required upon arrival).
