A wide variety of opportunities for graduate study are offered in several areas of both applied and basic research. We also offer a Graduate Certificate Programme, allowing graduate students in other disciplines to develop and demonstrate proficiency in entomology.

Programme Goal

The goal of this Entomology programme at Kansas State University is to provide students with opportunities for practical experience and course credit in research, teaching, extension, and outreach. Doctoral students are required and master’s students are encouraged to develop teaching and grantsmanship skills. Students publish in some of the leading science and entomology journals.

All applicants for graduate study are expected to have a background in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and the physical sciences.
An overall 3.0 GPA (B average, 80% or better) is expected, and international students must present evidence of proficiency in English (TOEFL or other acceptable exam).

A description of your career objectives in a statement form

A resume or curriculum vitae

Three letters of recommendation

If applicable, an abstract of the Master’s thesis may also be requested
