The Agricultural Economics master's degree requirements in agricultural economics may be completed in one of two ways:
- Students at Kansas State University can complete of a minimum of 30 semester credit hours, including preparation of a thesis for which 6 credit hours are awarded. The 30 credit hour programme with thesis is structured to prepare students for careers in research or analysis, or to continue into a Ph.D. programme.
- Students also have the option of a minimum 36 credit hour programme, which requires a paper rather than a thesis. This programme allows for flexibility because of its fewer formal requirements. This programme is geared to prepare students for careers in public service, commerce, and industry.

- A carefully prepared two-page statement of objectives for graduate study
- A current resume
- Names and contact information for three references familiar with your academic work, from whom we will request letters of recommendation. (If you have an M.S. degree, letters should be from someone familiar with your M.S. program.
- GRE scores. Enter your scores in the online application form along with the date on which the exam was taken (GRE scores are valid for 5 years), and have the official scores sent to us. The institution code for Kansas State University is 6334.
- Transcripts of all previous undergraduate and graduate coursework. Upload electronic copies of your transcripts where prompted in the online application system. If the transcript is not in English, you will also need to upload a copy of an official translation. If the transcript does not use a 4 point grading system, provide information so grades can be converted to an A, B, C, D, F scale. If you are admitted, the Graduate School will require you to submit original, official transcripts.
