Geospatial technologies are on the cutting edge of data management, not just in geography and environmental sustainability industries, such as planning, surveying, GIS, and geointelligence, but also for professionals in diverse sectors like ecology and wildlife conservation, agriculture, energy, real estate, business, insurance, construction management, law enforcement, emergency management, and supply chain and logistics.

Unlike other programs, the Geography and Environmental Sustainability - Geospatial Technologies program at University of Oklahoma does not require students to have preexisting work or academic experience, nor do we require remedial coursework before starting the program for those who do not have preexisting knowledge and training.

Best of all, your transcript and diploma will not indicate this was an online degree. You receive the same degree as in-person students, and we encourage you to come to Norman to celebrate with us upon completion of that degree.

General requirements

The master’s degree requires the equivalent of at least two semesters of satisfactory graduate work and additional work as may be prescribed for the degree;
All coursework applied to the master’s degree must carry graduate credit;
Master’s degree programs which require a thesis consist of at least 30 credit hours. All non-thesis master’s degree programs require at least 30 credit hours;
Credit transferred from other institutions must meet specific criteria and is subject to certain limitations;
Courses completed through correspondence study may not be applied to the master’s degree;
To qualify for a graduate degree, students must achieve an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the degree program coursework and in all resident graduate coursework attempted
