The Political Analytics course from Columbia University New York - School of Professional Studies makes it possible for working professionals to maintain their current employment and location of residence while pursuing their degree.

They want students to learn and study from anywhere in the country and the world. Whether they are on the campaign trail, traveling frequently, or involved in their own local election, we want to provide the flexibility to continue working and studying.

They want students working full-time in the field to immediately apply classroom learning to real-world challenges and to build a community of practice with fellow students.

They want the doors to a Columbia-quality education for learners who live outside the greater New York City area and expands educational access for learners who do not have the economic means to relocate.

This programme provides targeted learning of technical skills in an explicitly political context for political campaign professionals and career seekers to enable them to facilitate cross-functional communication and understanding between substantive political decision-makers and operatives with technical analytics experts.

Students will gain foundational knowledge, theoretical and empirical research skills, analytics capabilities, and applied practice for professional data-oriented careers in politics.

After completing the programme, students will:

Achieve competence in an array of analytic techniques that pertain to political campaigns, such as journalistic communication

Master the ability to utilize predictive models for data-based analysis of campaign strategies, and explanation of political dynamics

Gain foundational knowledge, fluency in theoretical and empirical research methods, analytics capabilities, technical skills, and applied practice to impact decision-making at all levels of political analysis

Have a strong command of how to navigate the legal and regulatory landscape that governs elections, campaign strategy and execution
