General requirements
In addition to the general application requirements, the department specifically requires:
- The European and Mediterranean Studies/Journalism programme requires applicants to write a personal essay. The essay is an extremely important part of the application, so treat it accordingly. The essay should be 1,000 to 1,500 words in length. In addition, all applicants must submit one or two additional writing samples, whether published or not.
- Two writing samples are required for the joint M.A. programme. These samples should be indicative of the applicant’s best overall work and need not have been published. They should include at least one academic paper or senior thesis that demonstrates the student’s critical thinking ability and another that showcases the student’s writing ability.
